Chefs, I love them. Mostly because I love to eat. So when Gillianne and Neil wanted to do a cooking theme for their engagement, it was a no brainer. We headed to Sweet Lydias in Ocean Beach in San Diego to use her kitchen (it is a baking kitchen so it was much easier to move around!) then we headed over to Pacific Beach after to buy some fresh veggies for Neil to use.
kristina & tony / skylines
I flew into Chicago worried, it was downpouring and our session was in five hours, I was checking the weather like a madman. About an hour before our session the rain stopped but it was overcast, still ideal and I was just happy it wasn't raining. We photographed around Chicago and then Kristina and Tony's home. Afterwards, they said we needed to get the Chicago downtown view. As soon as we got to the location, the sun broke and created the most beautiful sunset. I just stopped and stared in awe, I had the most beautiful view and an amazing couple, it was all I needed.
lorraine & catherine / love and basketball
Love is equal for everyone in my eyes and for Lorraine and Catherine its in their hearts. We traveled around LA and hit up some of their favorite spots. Hitting up the basketball court was definitely high on the list and these ladies can play.
kristin & phil / meet me at the jetty
I've never been a big beach person even though I was born in Hawaii and I lived in San Diego for so many years. I always tell people the only thing that takes me to the beach is when a couple wants to photograph there. But when I went to the sand with Kristin and Phil in Costa Mesa, I got to stare out into the ocean and it definitely brought back a feeling of nostalgia. Missing the fact that I lived so close to the ocean and never took advantage of it, I may rethink not hanging on the sand. Especially if I get to hang with some cool folks.
karoll & carlos / romance in the design
You might recognize these two from the photograph that adorns my homepage. I had actually photographed them the day after I started designing this new site and when they came with the "I LOVE YOU" sign, I knew we were meant to photograph together. Karoll and Carlos flew up from Puerto Vallarta and we met in San Diego for their engagement portraits. They came with props, outfits and attitude, a great combination.
